A leader in the construction of facilities for the Food and Beverage Industry, Keller Construction Ltd. is pleased to announce they have been awarded the contract for the Loblaw Properties West Freeport Warehouse Expansion project and the construction management contract for the Loblaws Perishable Distribution Center.
Loblaws Perishable Distribution Center – Surrey, British Columbia
Keller Construction Ltd. is has been awarded the Construction Management contract for the Loblaws Perishable Distribution Center in Surrey, British Columbia. Construction is to begin September 2008 with completion in November of 2009.
Keller has teamed up with KL Tech Engineering Ltd. together utilizing each others resources to create a strong partnership. This project is to be completed utilizing the LEED Rating System achieving Silver Certification. This system recognizes leading edge buildings that incorporate design, construction and operational practices to combine healthy, high quality and high performance advantages with reduced environmental impacts. This facility consists of 14,000 SF of office area, 165,000 SF of coolers and racked storage area, 105,000 SF of freezer and meat coolers and 127,000 SF of Dock areas.

Freeport Warehouse Expansion - Calgary, Alberta
Located in Calgary, Alberta, this project will add over 230,000 SF of warehouse and distribution space. The project includes a separate 25,000 SF building for handling dunnage, damaged product, and truck maintenance. The main building expansion features over 135,000 SF of refrigerated warehouse, 60,000 SF of dry warehouse, plus shipping areas with (75) shipping doors. Delivery method is lump sum / fixed price with Phase 01 substantial performance achieved on December 23, 2008 and Phase 02 March 01, 2009. Keller Construction will co-ordinate a phased occupancy of the building to accommodate the Loblaw supply chain demands of the Christmas season.
Loblaw Properties West Inc. (Westfair Foods Ltd.) is the developer of The Real Canadian Superstores throughout western Canada and is part of Loblaw Companies Limited, the largest food distribution company in Canada. This project is part of the Supply Chain 2010 project aimed at improving the supply chain ability of Loblaw’s in Western Canada.
